The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, arrived on a two-day official visit to Ukraine, where he was received by his host, the Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych. The Ukrainian and Slovenian Presidents then attended the Ukrainian-Slovenian business forum where over 60 Slovenian companies participated in searching new business partners from Ukraine.

Geneticists’ opposition to direct-to-consumer genetic tests

A recent survey of European clinical geneticists has revealed opposition to direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing. As professor Janssens, who lead the research, noted: “We are all aware of the ethical problems surrounding DTC genetic testing, but this study also confirms that their predictions are inaccurate.” Read the whole article here.

At the global Novartis BioCamp, which will run between Monday and Wednesday in Basel, Switzerland, Slovenia will also have a representative, Dr. Klemen Španinger. Dr Španinger won at the regional competition for young professionals in the field of biomedicine held end of May in Slovenia and was then a doctoral student in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana.
